Dr Nayana Sudhakar Shirbhate

Associate Professor and Head | Dept of Botany

Dr. Nayana Sudhakar Shirbhate is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Botany at Vidya Vikas Arts, Commerce and Science College, Samudrapur, District Wardha. She specializes in Advanced Plant Physiology and Biochemistry and has extensive experience in teaching, research, academic administration, and community service. She has completed her Ph.D. in Botany and has qualified NET (ICAR). Her research interests include phytoremediation, plant physiology, plant biochemistry, environmental pollution, artificial lighting for plant cultivation, and sustainable agriculture. She has published 38 research papers, authored/co-authored 9 books and book chapters, and contributed to 6 granted patents. She has guided Ph.D. scholars and numerous postgraduate research projects and has been actively involved in curriculum development, examination work, IQAC, NAAC, NEP implementation, women empowerment, environmental awareness, and rural community development.

In recognition of her leadership and commitment to public service, she was elected as the Mayor of Hinganghat Municipal Corporation in 2025. Her multifaceted contributions to higher education, scientific research, academic administration, community development, and civic leadership make her a distinguished academician and public representative.
