National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) was launched on 24 September 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, by the Government of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Initially, it started in 37 universities with about 40,000 student volunteers.
Vidya Vikas Arts, Commerce and Science College, Samudrapur, established in 1989, is a leading institution serving students from the rural region of Wardha district. The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of the college was started in 1990 with the objective of developing socially responsible and service-oriented youth. Through various extension and community outreach activities such as tree plantation, cleanliness drives, health awareness programmes, blood donation camps, environmental conservation initiatives, and rural development programmes, the NSS unit contributes significantly to the holistic development of students. NSS volunteers are true nation builders who cultivate leadership, discipline, social commitment, and the spirit of selfless service, guided by the motto “Not Me But You.”

Aim of NSS
The primary aim of NSS is to develop the personality and character of students through voluntary community service. It promotes the concept of “Education through Service.”
