English

The Department of English was established in 1989 and caters to the language and literary needs of students from the Arts, Commerce, and Science streams. The department aims to develop students’ proficiency in English communication, analytical skills, soft skills, and cultural and global perspectives. It promotes student-centred learning through seminars, group discussions, role plays, English language activities, ICT-based teaching, guest lectures, and certificate and value-added courses in Communicative English, Spoken English, and Communication Skills. The department also actively contributes to extension activities, research, academic development, and the overall personality and career development of students.

Research in the Department

  • Faculty members of the Department of English have made significant contributions through research publications in peer-reviewed and UGC CARE-listed journals.
  • The department has published research papers, book chapters, and conference papers in areas related to English literature, language, social issues, and literary studies.
  • Dr. V. Rajesham has published four research papers in peer-reviewed journals and serves as a Ph.D. thesis adjudicator at Gondwana University.
  • Dr. Nitin Akhuj has contributed to research publications and has served as a former member of the Board of Studies (Languages – English & Indian), RTM Nagpur University.
  • Dr. Ganesh Bele has published research papers, book chapters, and UGC CARE-listed papers; he is also a Ph.D. guide and thesis adjudicator at RTM Nagpur University.
  • Dr. Prakash Tale has published research papers, book chapters, and a book, and has received a research project sanctioned by the Research and Development Cell of RTM Nagpur University.
  • The department encourages faculty members to undertake minor and major research projects and promotes research and academic publication activities.
